Press Release: Live It Up! On Hillsborough Street Festival Celebrates End of Construction and Street Dedication
September 20, 2010
The Hillsborough Street Community Service Corporation in partnership with the City of Raleigh, NC State University, Legacy Event Planners and the Hillsborough Street business and residential communities are planning the official Hillsborough Street Celebration for September 25. The event will commemorate the completion of the construction, our new streetscape and the future of our exciting community.
Much like the festivities in Downtown Raleigh known as Raleigh Wide Open, the event will reintroduce the street and community to the city and creates lasting repeat customers. We are excited to share our fantastic new streetscape with the city and show everyone that we are open for business and embracing a new vision for the future as the gateway to NC State and Downtown Raleigh!
This family friendly community event will appeal to local and regional residents as well as NC State students, faculty, staff and alumni. It will include a formal dedication ceremony, kids section, food and beverage areas, tons of live entertainment in multiple venues, a full range of arts activities, educational opportunities, an Eco Zone and opportunities to engage with the local businesses. Of course we also want everyone to have as much fun as possible.
For this community event to be most successful it should include as many participants from the community as possible. So, we are inviting any and all community and University groups, organizations, individuals, performers, and sponsors of activities to take part in the event. We want to showcase everything the community has to offer. We would be pleased to talk with you about how your organization could participate in the day’s festivities.
Participation can be in a wide range of levels. We first and foremost want the day to be entertaining and fun, and also an opportunity for exposure for all community groups. Your involvement could be as small as a booth promoting environmental awareness, a large presentation or a model display. We are open minded and interested in finding an option that works for you. The event will begin at 1pm and last until around 9pm.
If you would like to learn more about the event, discuss options and possibilities or meet with the new Executive Director, Jeff Murison, please feel free to contact him at jeff@hillsboroughstreet.org . We would be pleased to learn more about your organization and explore how we can include you in the event.
