Hillsborough Street is full of many restaurants and businesses that cater to patrons of the surrounding neighborhood, as well as students and faculty of NC State University. Throughout the year there are gatherings, events and traditions that take place and utilize the liveliness of the area!

  • Bearcat Beatdown
On Thursday September 22, 2011 the Hillsborough Street Community Service Corporation partnered with University Dining, the Wolfpack Club, NCSU Athletics and various campus organizations to host “Bearcat Beatdown”.  The event brought all the excitement of a live game experience right to Hillsborough Street as attendees were able to watch the Wolfpack take on the Bearcats on a 25 foot screen.  With an appearance from Mr. Wuf, the NCSU dance team and a large turnout of NC State students, the event was a great success.  Thank you to Hot Box Pizza as well as all the other merchants of Hillsborough Street and campus organizations who were integral in making “Bearcat Beatdown” possible.

On the tenth anniversary of September 11, 2001 NC State Chancellor Randy Woodson lead the campus and community in a memorial service at the Belltower recognizing and honoring all those who perished in the tragic events on 9/11.  The service paid tribute to all NCSU alumni who have served in the military.  To coincide with this event, the Hillsborough Street Community Services Corporation enlisted the help of over 35 NCSU student groups and organizations to decorate the store-fronts on Hillsborough Street with patriotic imagery
