Arts Spotlight: Moonlight in the Garden

It’s that time of the year again. The wind gets crisp, the leaves change colors and the holiday excitement is almost magical.

Moonlight in the Garden at JC Raulston Arboretum also returns for its fifth year with a better-than-ever exhibition -- giving us a glimpse of nature in a whole new light. For seven nights in November, JCRA will light up the garden and share what a magical place the Arboretum can be under the moonlight.

This isn't your typical lighting event. JCRA has worked with lighting specialists to make Moonlight in the Garden a specially-designed showcase of this internationally-acclaimed garden and all its splendor.

Founded in 1976, JCRA has collected 7,000 types of plants over the decades, making it the most diverse botanical gardens in North America. The Arboretum's mission to collect plants, research, distribute and educate culminates with this event.

"Nature brings joy to life and illumination at night reveals new dimensions of nature," said John Garner, volunteer project chair and president of Southern Lights of Raleigh.

Moonlight in the Garden opens on November 8th from 6pm - 9pm. Come out with your friends and family for a walk through the garden, groove to the music of a live band, grab a bite to eat from one of the food trucks, roast a marshmallow (or two) at the fire pits and sip on a cup of hot apple cider.

*Tickets are sold out to all seven nights of the event*
