Packapalooza Roundabout Blog

Packapalooza returns to Hillsborough Street on Saturday, Aug. 25 from 2-10 p.m. to close out NC State's Wolfpack Welcome Week.

This free, family-friendly event has grown to include over 300 vendors and Hillsborough Street merchants as well as 80,000-plus attendees over its seven-year history. The day’s activities include food/drinks, arts & crafts, meet-and-greets, activities, performances and more over the course of the afternoon.

The festival includes something for everyone - we've highlighted just a few of the great things to do on Saturday afternoon, so make sure you visit Packapalooza.NCSU.edu for the full rundown!

HEADLINING THE BELLTOWER STAGE

Parmalee is headlining Packapalooza and will be taking the stage at 8:45 PM. The stage is set up between the Aloft Hotel and the Memorial Bell Tower. Don't miss the free concert to cap off Packapalooza! Natives of North Carolina, Parmalee is best known for their hits "Carolina" and "Close Your Eyes".

HORNE STREET, ACTIVATED

From 2-7pm on Saturday, Horne Street will feature several stations for kids' arts & crafts. Street chalk art will also be available for attendees to participate in during that same time frame.

PHASE II COMPLETE

As a part of the festivities, Live It Up! Hillsborough Street will join with NC State and the City of Raleigh to celebrate the conclusion of Phase II construction as a part of the Hillsborough Street Renewal Project. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at the Brooks Avenue Roundabout at 3 p.m. and all are invited. Speaking at the event will be Mayor Nancy McFarlane, NC State Chancellor Randy Woodson, Raleigh City Council Member Kay Crowder and HSCSC Board President Joe Whitehouse, Jr.

Join us as we celebrate the beginning of a Better Than Ever Hillsborough Street!

ZONES OF FUN

Before you head out on Saturday, make sure to download the Packapalooza app so you don't miss a thing in any of the eight main zones or on any of the three stages.

The Senior Class & Young Alumni Zone will be up and running on Chamberlain Street, featuring Raleigh Brewing Company and Zaxby's - two of our Live It Up! merchants.

The Play Zone brings you water activities, sports attractions and more - get to ready to be active. And it's just across the street from the food trucks, so you can refuel when you're done. All our merchants along Hillsborough Street will also be open, so you're sure to find the right food option for you!

Head over to the Arts Zone for a mix of performances and activities to bring out your creative side.

You can also find performances in the International Zone at Packapalooza! NCSU is made up of so many different cultures, you'll have a chance to learn about many facets of the global community in several unique ways.

As a part of that global community, NCSU and its neighbors are committed to service and sustainability. Visit both the Service and Green Zones to find out how you can make a difference too! If you want to meet people who make a difference every day for our community - NC State PD, Raleigh PD, Raleigh Fire/Emergency Medical Services and members of the Armed Forces - head over to the Pack Pride Zone.

And for those looking to meet the Wolfpack members who keep the NCSU tradition alive, visit the Wolfpack Zone to meet the athletes, learn about game day activities and find out about new ways to get involved.
