Arts Spotlight: NC State Fair's "Got to be NC" Fest

This year's Got to be NC Festival is taking place May 17-19 at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds in Raleigh. The annual event is a celebration of what makes North Carolina the place it is, filled with things the entire family can enjoy. And if you need a little extra push to go besides enjoying a good 'ole NC time - the festival is free to attend! There are no fees for gate admission or parking (there are things inside to buy if you want).

As a part of the festival, attendees can enjoy exhibits, carnival rides, the Food Lion Local Goodness Marketplace, the Heritage Arts Corner and more! There's also plenty of live music, inlcuding the Carolina Bluegrass Battle, a couple tractor pulls in the Grandstand, the Annual Carolina Masonic Pig Jig and fireworks on Friday and Saturday night.

Some of the newest additions to this celebration of North Carolina?

Danny Grant's Cowboy Circus

The Cowboy Circus will be roaming the fairgrounds daily with an interactive show that kids are sure to enjoy, such as learning to crack a real bullwhip, lasso a horse, trick roping and more.

Feeder Pigs

These lively pigs can be found near the pig patch birthing center, each weighing in at about thirty pounds each! Their amusing behavior is sure to bring laughter to the crowd. A member from the North Carolina Pork Council will also be there to answer questions about pork production in NC.

The Soap Bubble Circus

Steve Langley and his team's Soap Bubble Circus will be hard to miss as they're roaming the grounds of the festival, just look for bubbles of all shapes and sizes! This group is sure to create a fun and memorable experience for guests of all ages.
