Tasty Tuesday: Cha House

Kate Gray

Cha House is an Asian-inspired tea house, influenced by the tastes and traditions of Taiwan. Cha is located right across from the Uncommon and under Stanhope and is one of my favorite places to study!

Unlike a lot of studying hot spots around campus, Cha House is more than just a coffee house, it has food that is perfect for someone who wants to study right through lunch or dinner and still get a filling meal in. I went on a study and lunch date with my friend and we got the Thai Chili Chicken meal and the Popcorn Chicken and waffles snack to share. The food was delicious and the chicken had such amazing flavor and was breaded in a way that was perfect for the flavors. The chicken on the chicken & waffles had the perfect spice kick to add bunches of flavor and yet not be spicy for those who prefer mild food. You could also just tell that the chicken was prepared differently for each dish, and it made such an impact.

Cha House is the place I like to go to try new drinks because I love to ask the employees what their favorite items are, or what they recommend. I have never been led astray by asking the staff, and they always come over to check and see how I liked the drink before I left! I love to try their different fruit teas but all the different coffees, milk teas, and specialty drinks are always amazing too!

The vibe inside is so fun and colorful, while also remaining calm and the perfect studying environment. They play soft music, it is never too loud, and they have both couches and tables depending on what you are in the mood for. They even have tables that face the wall if you need to zone in to get work done! If you don’t live close by or if it is raining you can park in the Stanhope parking deck attached to the building and they will validate your parking before you leave. Check out Cha House next time you need a fun place to go to to get out of the house!
