David Dean

Director of Programs

David is a Raleigh native, and lifelong Wolfpack fan, who grew up in Five Points and Cameron Park. His professional career includes a diverse history of projects in sustainability, entertainment and economic development. He was successfully pitched investment opportunities for real estate and business ventures, raising several million dollars in the process. He has marketed RIAA-certified platinum albums and handled public relations for a $65 million energy-saving performance contract.

In his most recent role, as Director of Programs for the Hillsborough Street Community Service Organization, he oversees the intern program, the district’s marketing and communications strategy, as well as all special events. In addition, he serves on the Arts, Culture and Recreation Committee, the City of Raleigh Events Task Force and interacts with community leaders through various other civic opportunities.

David consults with various marketing firms and corporations on their marketing strategy, social media content and public relations. He was the first Outreach and Communications Coordinator for Sustainability at North Carolina State University and, as Sustainability Consultant with Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools, he helped guide the development of the district’s composting program, which was recognized in 2015 as a US Department of Education Green Ribbon District Awardee.

He is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University with a B.S. in Business and a double minor in Communications and Entrepreneurship. He lives in Durham with his wife, two children and two cats. He is a percussionist, double bogey golfer and average fly fisherman.
