New Festivals Coming to Hillsborough Street

Raleigh, NC, February 22 — Live It Up! Hillsborough Street announced today they will host two free community festivals, as part of their Live & Local series, on Hillsborough Street in 2017.

Live & Local: Spring Fest will be held Saturday, April 8, 2017 from 12:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. and Live & Local: Roots Fest will be held Saturday, September 23, 2017. The festivals will offer opportunities for the community to connect to local music, art, and more. Hillsborough Street will be closed for both events.

“Our events outgrew their original footprints so this year we will transform Hillsborough Street into a huge block party during both festivals,” said David Dean, Director of Programs at Live it Up! Hillsborough Street.

Live & Local: Spring Fest is a free, family-friendly event that will have options for all ages, including multiple live music stages, an Artist Market, Kids Zone, and a beer zone sponsored by Raleigh Brewing Company. Hillsborough Street merchants will be on hand to showcase the myriad of offerings in the district. Additionally, Live It Up! has partnered with Artsplosure to create enhanced programming throughout the event.

The Spring Fest main stage will be located at 2200 Hillsborough Street, near the Enterprise Street intersection, and Compiegne Park will host the Youth Stage. Spring Fest bands will be announced at a later date.

Later in the year, Live & Local: Roots Fest will focus on music genres that are closely aligned with North Carolina’s history. Programming will range from the blues to country to soul and everything in between. Additionally, the festival will feature local and regional craftspersons and organizations.
