Dr. Mike Mullen is Vice Chancellor and Dean for Academic and Student Affairs at North Carolina State University. As Vice Chancellor, Mullen is responsible for dozens of academic support and student life programs that serve all 34,000 students at NC State. His division has as its overarching mission the success of every student on campus, from the time they arrive on campus until they graduate. He also is a Professor of Soil Science in the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences at NC State. He is interested in continuing to develop and maintain town-gown relationships in the Hillsborough Street community.
Mullen has worked with students for over 30 years as a professor and in his administrative roles. Before coming to NC State, Mullen served as Associate Provost for Undergraduate Education and Dean for Undergraduate Studies at the University of Kentucky, and was a Professor at the University of Tennessee and University of Kentucky for 15 years prior to providing campus leadership for students success. Dr. Mullen received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Purdue University and he completed his Ph.D in Soil Science from North Carolina State University in 1987.
