Stormie D. Forte was appointed as the District D Council Member on July 13, 2020. She is a proud Raleigh native and a graduate of Broughton High School. Council Member Forte attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and Master of Science Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and Psychology. She went on to receive her Juris Doctor Degree from North Carolina Central University and is a licensed attorney in the State of North Carolina and in the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of North Carolina Federal Court. In addition to her passion for law and human services, she is also a licensed Real Estate Agent. 

Throughout her career she has worked for the State of North Carolina, private sector, nonprofit organizations and was a small business owner. Ms. Forte is currently the principle at Obsidian Consulting Services, LLC where she assists local companies with business organization and economic development opportunities. She is also a partner in Cardinal Consulting Company, LLC which provides a broad range of campaign services to candidates seeking elective office. She truly enjoys helping others and decided to host a Saturday morning weekly radio talk show, “The Art of Listening with Stormie Forte”, that airs on 92.1 Choice FM. 

Council Member Forte believes in giving back to the community and has been a frequent volunteer for the Rex Hospital Open, SAS Championship, Hopscotch Music Festival, Oak City Marathon and many other events in the area. She also serves as an Advisory Board Member for the following organizations: Clarence Lightner Y Achievers within the Triangle Area YMCA, Preparing to Soar Program in Johnston County, North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities Ethics Bowl, My Brother’s Keeper of Wake County, and Friends of the NC State Science Museum Board. In addition, she is a Commissioner on the North Carolina Commission for Racial and Ethnic Disparities.  

Stormie takes pride in being a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and a Tar Heel Alumni. In her spare time, she enjoys watching Tar Heel basketball and playing with her dogs. She is looking forward to serving the residents of District D and working with all of Raleigh’s residents.
